**Ruthie Denise "Neecy" Smiley**

(February 10, 1967 - June 25, 2024)

Ruthie Denise Smiley, affectionately known as "Neecy," passed away on June 25, 2024 in Madison, Mississippi. She was the loving daughter of the late Alfred C. Buck and Ruthie Mae Buck. Ruthie touched the lives of many with her words wisdom, comfort, love, and unwavering support.

Ruthie was born on February 10, 1967, in Copiah County Mississippi. She spent her life spreading kindness and joy to everyone she met. She cherished her family above all else and found immense happiness in spending time with her loved ones.

An individual filled with love and care, Ruthie was an integral part of her community. She dedicated herself to community service duties and found solace in arts and crafts. Known for her nurturing nature, Ruthie was held in high regard by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Ruthie's proudest accomplishments included being a devoted band mother and being recognized as the Parent of the Year for Crystal Springs Band Booster Club. She was a pillar of strength within her community and a beacon of light for many.

In education, Ruthie attended Crystal Springs schools where she not only excelled academically but also formed lifelong friendships that she cherished deeply.

Survived by her loving husband Carl Smiley, daughter Priscilla Victoria Smiley, son Christopher Lamar Smiley - all of Crystal Springs MS; her sister Nora Ann Wiley (Sidney) of Hazlehurst MS; her brother Tommy Earl Buck (Maudi) of Jackson MS; and her two grandsons Lycan and Lyriq Wilkinson of Crystal Springs MS. Additionally, she leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, aunties, uncles, relatives, and friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

The services to honor Ruthie's life will be held at Heritage Funeral Services in Terry MS. A Viewing will take place on June 27, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM followed by a Memorial Gathering on June 28 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

Ruthie Denise Smiley will be deeply missed by all who knew her but will forever remain alive in the hearts and memories of those she touched with her kindness and love.
