Reflections of “Mattie Laurie Williams”

Mattie Laurie Williams was born on July 28, 1969 in Crystal Springs, Mississippi to Robert and Helen Sandifer.
On March 28, 2024, God welcomed our dear Mattie home and gave her a crown and wings. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, J.C. & Jessie Pendleton and Jodie & Eunice Sandifer; a niece, Tawana Sandifer; a grandson, LaeKevin Sandifer; a beloved uncle, Earnest Thomas and an aunt, Mattie Jones.
At a young age, she accepted Christ into her life and began her beautiful singing & spiritual journey at St. Mary’s United Methodist Church-Crystal Springs, MS. She later rededicated her life to Christ by joining Gallman Chapel A.M.E. Church-Gallman, MS under the leadership of Pastor Kenneth Bennett. She was an active member of the choir and hands-on with the youth ministry.
Mattie graduated with the Class of 1987 from Crystal Springs High School. She furthered her education and later gained multiple certifications such as Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy, and Unit Clerk. Alongside her credentials, hard work,dedication and drive she pursued her calling and passion to care for others in need. Starting at the age of 18, she began her journey in Healthcare as a Certified Nursing Assistant and Home Health Aide in various nursing homes and medical facilities. To name a few: St. Dominic Hospital, University of Mississippi Medical Center, PrimeCare Nursing, Baptist Hospital and Mississippi State Hospital. It bought her much joy with every moment of caring, praying, encouraging and pouring into others.
During her leisure, she enjoyed spending quality time with her family & friends, giving to church, singing, dancing, shopping, cooking but most importantly loving on and caring for her husband, children and grandchildren.
On February 26, 2000 she was joined in Holy Matrimony to LeDon Williams.
Mattie leaves to cherish her memory; her loving husband, LeDon Williams; two daughters, Jessica Sandifer (Anibal Benito) and Kevonda Sandifer; two sons, Jeremy Sandifer and Kevin Sandifer (Shanequa Dixon); wonderful parents, Robert & Helen Sandifer; a stepdaughter that she considerd her own, Ashley Williams; grandchildren, Breana Sandifer, Amelia Benito, Makayla Benito, Xavier Benito, Tyler Sutton, Zoey Sutton, Kaliyah Miller, Skyla Miller, Caiden Haywood, Kaior Sandifer, Denyla Greer,Akeelah Sandifer, Brooklyn Sandifer, K’Ivory Sandifer, Karlei Sandifer and K’Nor Sandifer; her loving sister, Cassandra (Greg) Cannon; three brothers, Robert Sandifer, Jr. (Felicia), Hosia (Christine) Thomas; Arzell (Kathy) Thomas; three nieces, Jalin (Roderick) Walls, Fredrica Sandifer and Jasmine Sandifer; special nephew/son, Joshua Sandifer and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, great-nieces and nephews and a special aunt, Eva (Earnest) Thomas.
