John (Sonny) Carl Weaver, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away on February 10, 2025, at 82 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. He leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and unforgettable memories.

Born on February 17, 1942, in Jackson, Mississippi to Willie Mae and George Weaver, John grew up in Terry, Mississippi, the youngest in a large family, graduating from Terry High School where his popularity earned him the honor of Mr. Terry High. After high school he attended Hinds Community College and eventually, his life led him to settle in Jackson, where his business career took him into drafting and later heavy equipment sales.

John’ s love of the outdoors brought him together with many friends through turkey hunts, deer camps and horse arenas. He shared 28 wonderful years of marriage with his loving wife, Patricia, creating a strong and enduring partnership of love, trust, and mutual support. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories. His outgoing personality and kindness to everyone were apparent from the moment you met him.

He is survived by his wife Patricia; a daughter, Lori Ann Weaver of Gulf Shores, AL; two sons John Carl Weaver, II, of Jackson, MS; and Paul Anderson Weaver of Crystal Springs, MS. He is also survived by a grandson, Rowdy Weaver; and granddaughters, Madelyn, Sabrina, Kyndall, Kiera, and Faith; as well as a sister, Maxine Weaver Funchess of Brandon, MS; along with several nieces and nephews. His warmth, kindness, and vibrant spirit will continue to inspire all fortunate enough to have known him. May his soul rest in peace and rise in eternal glory.

Funeral arrangements will be made later.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Mississippi Horse Rescue (mississippihorses.org) or The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (give.michaeljfox.org).
