In loving memory of Jestiful Jamarl Terry, known affectionately as "Jamarl", a cherished member of the community whose passion for music and dedication to serving others touched the hearts of many.
Jamarl's journey began on May 6, 1980, in Jackson, MS, where he brought joy and love to his family as the third child of Joseph and Christine Terry. Growing up, Jamarl's talent and love for music shone brightly, eventually leading him to become a skilled piano musician. His musical journey spanned 30 years, during which he faithfully served as a dedicated full-time musician for Second Calvary Church and as the senior musician for Greater Mount Zion Church in Raymond, MS.
Throughout his life, Jamarl shared his musical gifts with various churches, including Terry Mission M.B. Church in Terry, MS, and Little Rock M.B. Church in Utica, MS. He was renowned for his commitment to his craft and his unwavering dedication to uplifting others through music.
Aside from his musical pursuits, Jamarl pursued education and professional growth. A graduate of Hinds County Agricultural High School and Hinds Community College with a degree in computer science, he continued his studies at Jackson State University. For over nineteen years, Jamarl worked diligently as a Production Technician at Nissan North America.
Those who knew Jamarl will remember him not only for his musical talents but also for his kind-hearted and caring nature. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and brought laughter and joy to all those around him.
On March 2, 2024, we said goodnight to Jamarl at U.M.M.C in Jackson, MS. Preceded in death by his older brother Joseph Terry Jr., Jamarl leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever be cherished by his surviving family members: his father and mother Pastor Joseph and Christine Terry; his sister Trina (Pastor Illiad) Kelly; his niece and nephew Illiad Kelly Jr. & Twyla (Rockiell) McGowan; his great-niece Gracie & great-nephew R.J.; along with aunts, uncles, relatives, church members, classmates, friends, coworkers, and his beloved music family.
Jamarl's memory will live on through the laughter shared with family, the melodies of his music that will echo through the halls of churches he served so faithfully, and the countless lives he touched with his kindness.
