On July 12, 1967, Joseph and Dorothy Minter Christmas was blessed with a beautiful baby boy and they named him Jerry Leon. Jerry was the 10 th of 12 children, whereas 2 siblings preceded him in death: Michael Anthony Christmas and Laura Ann Stewart.
Jerry’s education was completed at Crystal Springs High School on May 21, 1985. He started a much higher education at Jackson State University in Business Administration but was interrupted by joining
the Mississippi Army National Guard. Jerry received an honorable discharge as Specialist of the 1620 Military Police Company on June 2, 1993. Jerry’s unit was deployed to Persia Gulf where his duty involved the safety and security for protecting the commander in chief during Operation Desert Storm. After his return from active duty,
Jerry went on to pursue his college education at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, where he lived for many years.
Jerry was baptized at Clear Creek M. B. Church under the leadership of the late Rev. J.F. Davis.
Jerry was loved and will be missed dearly by his 5 brothers: Willie Louis Minter (Henrietta), Slidell, La, Glenn Christmas (Leanette), Crystal Springs, Joseph Christmas (Teresa), Robert and Daniel Christmas, all of Crystal Springs; 4 sisters: Sindy Cannady (Michael), Hot Springs, Arkansas, Gladys Hillard, Rose Lockhart (Roy), Wanda Williams (Richard), Crystal Springs, Ms; Uncle: Mr. Ethern Christmas, Bridgeport, Connecticut; 3 Aunts: Ms. Norma Smith, Prentis, Mississippi, Ms. Cheryl Christmas, Brookhaven, MS and Ms. Annie Minter, Crystal Springs; 3 brothers-in-law: Mr. Larry Stewart, Michael
Cannady and Richard Williams. 9 nieces, 8 nephews, a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins and special friends, Ms. Bobbie Jarvis, Ms. Keisha Pendleton, nurse technician, Fresenius Kidney Care.
