Charles Ray Harper, affectionately known as Chuck, was born on January 26 , 1963, in Jackson, Mississippi. He passed away peacefully in the same beloved city on March 3, 2025 , leaving behind a legacy of warmth and compassion that will forever be cherished by those who loved him.
Chuck dedicated a significant part of his life to his career at Creole Chicken, where he was known for his hard work and commitment until health challenges led him to retire on November 14, 2024. His dedication extended far beyond his job; it was a reflection of his genuine care for others, embodying the loving spirit that defined him.
Education played an important role in Chuck's life. He received his education from the Compton Unified School District in Compton, California, shaping the man he would become. He carried forward the values he learned throughout his life, nurturing strong relationships with family and friends alike.
At the heart of Chuck's existence was his family. He is survived by his loving mother, Carolyn Harper Robinson of Crystal Springs, Mississippi. His heart was filled with pride for his son, Lamar Harper of Antelope Valley, California, and his beloved daughter, Manessa Harper of Compton, California. The light of his life shone even brighter through his four grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and countless cherished memories.
Chuck was also blessed with a large circle of siblings who deeply admired and loved him. He is survived by six sisters: Gloria Anderson, Lola Ephform, and Sheila (Jerry) Christian, all residing in Crystal Springs, Mississippi; Precious Harper in Dallas, Texas; Paris Harper in Antelope Valley, California; and Ardrena Jackson in Long Beach, California. Furthermore, he had four brothers: John (Charlean) Harper, Kelvin (Barbara) Harper, Prince Harper, all of Crystal Springs, Ms Derrick Jackson, of Byram Ms The unity and love shared among this family created an unbreakable bond that will continue to thrive in his absence.
The services to celebrate Chuck’s life will be held at Heritage Funeral Services, LLC, located at 421 West Cunningham Ave., Terry, Mississippi. Visitation will take place on March 6 and March 7, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to attend as we honor his memory. A graveside service will follow at Garden Memorial Park, located at 8001 Hwy 49 N., Jackson, Mississippi, on March 8 at 11:00 AM.
As we reflect on Chuck's life, let us remember his warm smile, genuine kindness, and the laughter he shared with all of us. His spirit will live on in our hearts, reminding us of the importance of love, family, and cherished memories. Though he may no longer walk among us, his presence will forever be felt in the love he left behind.
